The Metamorphosis Cover
This is my final project for my Editorial Illustration class. We had to design a cover for The Metamorposis by Franz Kafka. Fun stuff.

NOTICE
So I recently became aware the fact that Google Chrome sucks are understanding CMYK color modes. So if you're looking at my blog with Chrome be aware that any of the digital paintings made for print are going to look bad when they are viewed. I'm working on re-uploading those that need to be but until then be warned! Viewers on IE9 and Firefox can rest easy because there seems to be no problem there.
***UPDATE***Okay, as of now all the stuff in the first few pages (at least) has been swapped to RGB. So now it should all display correctly.
Cheers!

Talking to Myself
No, that's not what I feel I do with this blog... It's kind of what I'm doing in this painting though. Done for my Editorial Illustration class. The article published in Esquire magazine with the same name as in the image.
Poster Project
This is probably one of the first things that I have produced in a while that I am completely happy with. I know, that's kind of sad but maybe it means there's more good stuff to come. Also, it was brought to my attention during class critique that I subconciously hid a second image in here. Can you find it?

DIL 317 A - Photo Realistic Paintings
Yeah, the title says it all. I know that some people feel these kinds of paintins are kind of hollow, but I've always had an appreciation for hyper-realism in paintings.

Finally Final
I finished this a really long time ago but just now got around to posting it... I'm rather lazy, am I not?

DIL 317 A - Changes and Stuff
Alright, obviously the blog is undergoing some style changes... Bear with me (if anyone really takes note of my blog anyhow!) they will come together soon!
Besides that, here's my weekly post for class. This is a pretty cool little blog filled with comics about various games from the hay-day of Nintendo for the most part. I love this style though it's something way too loose and whimsical for me to actually replicate... Enjoy!

DIL317 A - The Other Side of Fat
While the world is focused on trying to control the obeisity problem, which is a real threat, there is another side that is often neglected. This video makes a wonderful example.

Lions Card Competition
Every year the Detroit Lions football club has a contest for people (not sure if it's just students, or students from where) to design their holiday (yay for being PC) card for that year. This is my submission. 10X14 (to be reduced to 5X7) PSCS4
DIL 317A - Jealousy!
So I have long followed this gentleman named Petar Meseldzija and even have his blog linked over on the side of my blog. His style and subject matter is always so strong a powerful. Thick, bold brushstrokes give the impresion of movement and animation while intricate pencil and brushwork bring his images to life. His stile is one that I will forever refer back to when I need inspiration

DIL 317 A - Flying Photography
Each of these photos seems like they would have been quite difficult to capture... I guess it's all in the timing.

DIL 317 A - School News and Everything Else
Alright, so this'll be a first for this blog. No personal work in this post. Instead it's a 'here is what I've found' post, mandated by a teacher. It'll be weekly and hopefully it'll contain some interesting stuff. So here goes!
YouTube can be a lazy way to spend an afternoon. So many funny, timekilling videos that really do nothing for you besides kill time. However, dig deep enough and there are some fine jewels to be had.
CotrridorDigital is a two man group that films and produces YouTube videos (among other more professional things). As a plus, they post a 'how to' for almost every video they post. It's really interesting stuff.

Inner Daemons
Alright, so I posted a progress shot of this a long time ago. However, I refused to use the crappy quality that my old camera put out on my 'professional' blog. So I waited. Here's the finished product! 24"X18" Oil on canvas
Strange Self Portrait
This one was actually done in my sophomore year. I just never had a way to capture it digitally until now. At least it's still halfway decent so I don't feel bad posting it! 24"X18" oil on canvas using a mirror

Grandparents Portrait
This was finished a few months ago but I didn't have a camera available to me that was good enough to capture it. Now I do! I painted this for my grandparents on my father's side. 18"X24" Oil on canvas

Uh, Roar?
Yeah, that's where it's at. Working on a T-Rex model in Maya. It's the first thing I've built with the program outside of class last semester. It's also the first model that I've constructed completely by myself.

Little more fooling around. Forty minutes? Not sure since I went and got something to eat in the middle of drawing...

New and Yet Not So New
So I did this for the coalition that my mother is currently working for. The design itself was already created, they just wanted it spruced up and smoothed out (no one in the coalition has any photoshop or computer experience at all what-so-ever...). The red, yellow, and blue were not mixing in the original and there was no gradient fade either.

Diann
Well, this one is a lot closer to being the exact same pose as one of the reference photos I had of the person. That's not what I was going for but I had a lot of trouble getting any kind of likeness so I had to tighten up the pose some. It's still not as good of a likeness as I would have wanted, but it's already pushing an hour as a sketch which is too much! That's what this practice is for: to get faster and more accurate!

Been a While
Alright, so here's a quick (40-min... His head's damned hard to draw!) portrait of my high school art teacher, Mr. Rheault. I guess it looks a bit like him. I seriously need to work on this stuff more though.

Finished Explosion
Okay, this is the finished product! I had to rush it a little so there are some eliments that aren't quite how I wanted them, but I'm happy with it. There are two options: one with a slight radial blur, one with out it. What one looks better?
The Mask of the Red Death
This was my final project from my Digital Pen and Ink class. At the very beginning of the semester we had to get into groups and create a game idea. Then, for the reast of the semester, all of our projects were based off this game. My group's game is very loosely based off Edgar Allen Poe's Mask of the Red Death. The final was to create a game poster/box art. Enjoy!

A Little More Time
Alright, it's actually close to done... Just needs some polishing in a couple areas. It's getting down to the wire! This is a huge file so I'll post detail shots when it's finished.

Digi Pen and Ink Rough
And here are the very rough lines for my Digital Pen and Ink final. It's going to be a game poster/box art.
Some Slight Progress
So I'm in the middle of finals so this piece has been moving rather slow. However, my attention shall soon be focused almost entirely on it. Expect lots of progress in the coming days!

Ecclesiastes Quote
Alright, so we had to illustrate a quote from the book of Ecclesiastes in the bible for one of my classes. This is an in-progress shot.

Finished Head Model
Alright, here's the finished head model (sorry, I kept forgetting to upload it!). I'm going to finish the UV mapping once school's out for the summer.

Character Turn Around
Alright I'll have to go back into this and make it a respectable painting. For now, however, it is done. On a side note, no I did not draw the text... Thank Photoshop CS4 for that. (I only wish I was good at lettering!)

I Don't Trust You...
Supposed to be a painting of someone I don't trust. Who really trusts Artemis Entreri anyhow? Not sure if I like the end result, though. The canvas was too small and I jumped into it without enough prep. Lessons learned, I guess. Better picture coming soon, I promise! Oil on canvas 11" X 14"

Story Environment
Here's an environment I created for a video game story that my group is working on in Digital Pen and Ink class. It was required to be done in black and white, in case anyone is wondering. PS CS4 and Google Sketchup 7&8

Just a Little Progress Between You and Me
Lol, yeah... Just look at the title to know what this is! Maya Self Portrait in the works! Didn't crop it this time so everyone can kind of see what I'm working with. Enjoy.

And here's a detail of the engines from White Knight Two
Alright, so I had to take an intro to 3D Modeling class at school. This is my first time using Maya, though I had previously played around in another program that quickly frustrated me and brought my early 3D work to an end. I kind of like it so far.

It's been so long...
It's been so long and I do have more/better stuff to show, but for now a sketch. Let's get this blog thing rolling again.
